Kaylin Hickson, PTA

Kaylin Hickson: I was born and raised in Berks County, PA. I graduated from Governor Mifflin High School in 2010. Growing up, I spent most of my time playing competitive soccer on the east coast and helping my great grandmother navigate around the house in her later years. I share this because it’s those two things that later created my passion for pursuing a career as a Physical Therapist Assistant.

I went to California University of Pennsylvania (now named PennWest California) and enrolled in the Physical Therapist Assistant program. In 2012, a once in a lifetime opportunity to live and volunteer in South Africa presented itself. I spent a year and a half in South Africa coaching soccer and field hockey in Port Elizabeth RSA, teaching English in Cape Town RSA, and volunteering at a Lion Park in Johannesburg RSA. After my time in South Africa I returned to complete my Physical Therapist Assistant program graduating with honors in May 2015.

I relocated to NJ where I started my career working in outpatient treating a variety of diagnoses and varying in ages. Since starting my career, I have had the opportunity to expand my knowledge and skills working with various complex diagnoses in skilled nursing (5 years of experience) and working in home care physical therapy (2 years experience). I continue to expand my knowledge and skills through continuing education. My goal is to help my patients live pain free and enjoy integrating daily movement within their comfort level to improve their overall quality of life.

My life outside of work:
I am happily married to my wonderful husband, Chris. We live in Margate with our two cats (Rebel and Magic) and Dog (Zion). In my free time, I enjoy going to the beach, hiking, traveling, singing karaoke, and spending time with my husband, family, and friends.
