Linwood Chiropractor, Dr. Patrick Arnold
Simply put, I was a skeptic. For years my Dad used chiropractic treatment for a chronic lower back problem. I never really understood it...
After high school I attended Atlantic Community College and received an Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science. At that time I knew I wanted to work in the health care field, but certainly not as a chiropractor. Well, time went by. I worked in the hospital setting for seven years. I had gotten married and after my wife had our first child, Matthew, she suffered terribly with sciatic pain (pain down the leg). At the urging of several co-workers, she visited a chiropractor. The results were amazing! After accompanying my wife to a few appointments, I became very interested in chiropractic treatment. That was when I decided I would become a chiropractor. I applied to several chiropractic colleges and decided to attend Sherman College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Away we go, Ronna, Matthew, and myself. My chiropractic journey begins.
I graduated from Sherman College in December 1987. I began working with Dr. Richard Klingert in Egg Harbor Township. I had a great mentor and after about a year and a half I was ready to start my own practice.
My practice philosophy is simple, it evolves around a very simple, yet powerful concept; the human body is self healing and self regulating. There resides within all of us a power to heal. Healing is expressed through our nervous system. The skull and spinal column protect our delicate brain and spinal cord (nervous system). When there is interference with the nervous system because of a mis-aligned spine, the bodies ability to self regulate is damaged. Pain or illness is what follows.
My life outside the office
I am married to my soulmate, Ronna. We met while working together in a hospital laboratory. She works with us in the office and manages our billing/insurance department. We have two grown children, Matthew and Kristin. Our son, Matthew, graduated from LaSalle University and is an accountant living in East Falls, just outside of Philadelphia. Our daughter, Kristin, graduates from Rider University this year with a degree in Psychology. Her goal is to work with Autistic children. My wife and I enjoy hiking, walking on the beach, and outside activities in general. We love to travel and experience new places and people.
I like to get my spine checked once a week. It is an integral part of my health care and that of my family. I believe it is very important to be pro-active with my health. I think you are either moving toward health or away from it depending upon your lifestyle choices. I exercise 4-5 days a week. That includes squash, a racquet sport, as well as weight training and core exercises. I also like to run, periodically.
Diet is an integral part of my health care. Eating foods which are natural and free of preservatives and processed products is important. I also take vitamin supplements to maintain internal balance.
Our weight loss program is based upon the idea of eating to be healthy. Once the body begins to get healthy, it can begin to lose weight. It is important to eat plenty of green leafy vegetables and fruit. Lean protein is also very important. No matter how good we eat we cannot get all the nutrients we require from our diet, a high quality supplement is also important. There is a place for everything. I think, at times, antibiotics and drugs are necessary. I also feel they are way over utilized. If we all focused more on eating properly, keeping our frames aligned, and regular exercise we would require less drugs.
I consider myself an excellent listener and hope I get the opportunity to meet you in person and discuss your specific health challenge. Give our office a call or email me with the link below.
